Wot: 166 Iq

I know someone who claims he has an IQ of 166 and when I tried to figure out the likelihood that that's true I found this web site. Check out the graph from that site:

The guy would have an IQ that is more than 4 standard deviations greater than the average IQ of 100 on either the Wechsler or Stanford-Binet tests and he would therefore be smarter than well over 99.9% of the population. I tried to figure out the probability that a person's IQ is greater than 165 but my table of standard normal values (z in the graph) didn't go up that high. The highest z value in the table is 3.19 and that corresponds to an IQ of 151 on the Stanford-Binet test - I calculate that the probablity that someone has an IQ over 151 on that test is 0.0007. Do you think this guy is "shi'tting" me?

i questioned it mostly due to him still playing with 914's

I guess IQ and common sense don't go often go hand in hand, LOL

i'm afraid to find out how low my IQ is

yes, he most certainly is!

btw. there are claims out there from people having IQs of over 200. took me a while to figure out that there are 2 different methods used to calculate IQs. go figure.

166 on Stanford-Binet is BS !

Are you certain that he wasn't talking about his weight? I always want to run when someone is stating just how smart they are.
God Bless him if he indeed has a 166...I only wish that I was half as smart...

especially after seeing some of your posts !

Andy

PS: it seems that more recent iq-test use a different scale than in the past. when i did mine (some 20 years ago) we were told that the theoretical max. is 160 (or was it 165?). don't remember the exact number (alzheimer setting in) but i have frequently seen newer test with numbers as high as 210.
they're obviously *not* using the Stanford-Binet Scale.
