problem with new seal

Has anyone bought the reproduction targa seal that goes around the front windshield.

This is the one that goes down the sides and seals where the doors close as well as along the top.

Mine does not seal where the top corner of the door meets. i was wondering if anyone has found a solution to this other than to buy the real seal. I hav had the seal for about a year now and nothing has changed as far as it's sealing abilities go.

Also, I have a sealing problem at the top rear of the door windows...but this can probably be cured by getting new seals for that part. I have not replaced the two side or rear seals around the door windows.

Thanks for any help,
Paul

I had bought an OEM windshield/targa seal about a year ago and just installed it 2 weeks ago...I know, I know...well its sunny out and what is there to leak at this time of year anyhow?

I've heard that Pelican has serious concerns about the OEM and repro seals and won't stock them until they are improved...

I am not sure if the one I bought is in the reject pile category or if it was the last of the good ones, but so far, I haven't had a bit of problem and the seal works/fits very well. I won't try the repro seals...I've heard of too many bad experiences.

I soaked the seal in mineral oil (suntan oil)for a week to make it more flexible, and installed it while lubing the alum channels with armor all...went in well enough, but patience and perseverance is needed...you have to work with it to get it to fit right and seal properly..work from the center of the windshield out to the edges and WATCH OUT FOR THE ALUM TABS AT EACH UPPER CORNER. They will tear the seal if you're not careful.

I just spoke with Pelican on this seal last week or so. The problem still exists. This has become a big issue for my rebuild. Please let me know if anyone find out any more info!

I replaced my windshield seal with one from Pelican and it worked fine. It does require patience to work the seal down the aluminum channel on each side. I used a bit of liquid dish soap for lubricant. I have not had experience with the other targa seals.

I used one from Stoddard, not even sure if it was repro or OE but it was priced like OE. It was a b!tch to install, as expected, and the seal isn't the greatest at the points you mention (above the wing windows). No tearing or other probs, been almost a year.
