The best installations I have seen mount the box on the rear wall of the engine compartment, on the passenger side..the unit is hardly noticed unless youn stick you're head in the engine bay, and its protected from water by the rear lip...the wiring loom is just long enough and can be tied to the other vacuum lines in that same area...making the intall hardly noticeable.

This topic has been discussed here before so check the archives. I agree with Bowlsby that the preferred location is on the right side of the rear engine compartment wall. The length of wiring provided with the Crane kit allows you to attach the unit there and leaves very little excess wire to deal with. Good luck!

One note on this one... I put my Crane Hi-6 ignition unit on the passenger side fire wall... worked fine. I also used a Crane PS-91 high energy coil that I also mounted to the firewall. The coil mounting location turned out to be a bad idea. The ringing of the ignition current through the coil made the coil chirp like a small bird. The metal firewall acted like a sounding board and amplified the noise into the passenger compartment.... just about drove me nuts when I first fired it up. I had to move the new coil to roughly the position of the old Bosch coil, i.e. off the firewall... different mounting configuration, but there it sits now and the chirping is almost silent.
