914 cv joints not available?

i called worldpac, imc, and the dealer today to find that 914 cv joints are no longer available. tell me it ain't so. anyone found a source, or a vw number that will work? you can get a complete axle for something like $325, but not single joints.

Pelican and GPR show them as NLA, also.

I hope they are cross-listed as a VW part.. :(

The supply started to go away about a year ago, so the pickin's are probably real slim at this point.

There are no direct fits from VW.

hmmmm. AA gives part # for CV: 914.332.029.03

i agree. no direct bolt on from VW (or porsche).
they are NLA.

there are a few companies out there that offer other CVs and axles (VW-Bus and 911) with adaptors for the 914, but they're expensive ...

Just an FYI, Mittelmotors out of Germany has both CVs and axles listed on their site...

Are the joints the same on all 914's...sideshift and tail shift?

Yes, all 4 cyl. cars used the same CVs. 914/6s had a different spline, but you could change out the whole axle assembly.

I have a friend who buys VW CV's and drills out two of the bolt holes and inserts the roll pins used on 914's. Any one try this?
