Need source for grommets
I noticed that the grommet/cover for the rear bumper tow hook hole is no longer available through this site.
Any third-party recommendations? I'm also looking for a delete for that ugly antenna. The hole will be welded shut over the summer when the car goes in for rust repair, but until then, I'd love to plug it with some rubber. |
Go to your local Ace Hardware. They often have a metal box full of different sizes of plastic plugs and grommets in the aisle where all the screws, nuts and bolts are.

Well, I've done the Lowe's/ Home Depot thing...
It was slim pickin's... Anyone know of an online spot? Could I go as far as asking for a part #? Not that I'm lazy... just over-worked & tired. :-) |
I've found Home Depot to be poor for things like this. Ace stocks a lot of different parts kits that the big stores don't carry.

try an auto body supply store. some carry an amazing collection of rubber/plastic grommets, plugs and spacers used in the industry. call around.

I bought a box with like 500 of all different shapes and sized at Harbor Freight...Like $15 or something...

Really? Did any of these work for what I want to do here?

I second the recommendation for Ace Hardware. My local store has grommets, SAE and metric fasteners in grades 5, 8, 8.8, and stainless, and many, many more small parts. Lowe's and Home Depot, IMO, don't carry too many of the kind of small parts that car guys need.
Now if only I could find little chrome plugs for the bumper... I have a friend with a 914 and she's been looking for them almost since she got the car 4-5 years ago. |
