So that's where Brian Kumamoto went........

I was browsing through my copy of "How to Restore & Modify Your Porsche 914" and came across Brian's super clean 914 and it made me wonder, "Where did he go?" I'd remembered him being on this BBS when I got my first 914 and thought how cool it was that somebody on this Pelican's site had been published (don't worry Wayne, I did notice that you took all of the technical pic's for the book, and a d*mn good job you did at that.) So I did a search for Kumamoto on the site to see how long it had been, and low and behold he is still on the Pelican site, he just switched to the 911 BBS. Oh well, I guess I'd check out the 911 site if I had enough beans to buy one (or two). 911's are a dime a dozen out here, but I have yet to see another 914 cruising around out here in the St. Louis area in 16 years of 40 mile one way trips to work each day. GO 914's!

Porsche Crest Yeah, he's out of the 914 business

Brian sold his 914 about 1 a year ago or so (maybe longer?) He told me that his wife had decided that they had too many 2 seaters (they may have started a family) so he had to flip a coin between the 911 and the 914.

I still can't believe he painted the 914 himself in his garage. Something I wouldn't have the patience for.

the fact that his wife had the patience to put up with painting in the garage is frightening

This is a garage painted car, after I painted this one my wife informed that I would NEVER paint a car in the garage again!!! I've already started planning the new garage in the backyard!!!

Nice guy...and his 911 is as "sickeningly clean" as his 914 was...

Hi,

I realize this thread is pretty old at this point, but I just thought I would let you guys know where Brian's car has gone. It now resides with me down in San Diego and now that I'm out of college I have some money around to make sure that it gets the attention that it deserves.

I can't believe how nice a car he had kept for a 914 daily driver. The thing has really run fine since I got back in 01 with only basic valves, oil and other upkeep. At this point I need to figure out what to do for a new muffler since it is time for one.

Well, since I found the car though this BBS after reading tons of stuff while working on my not-so-nice 73 914 I figured I would say hi.
