Serial number locations

Where are all identifying numbers located in a 914?
How hard is it to change these numbers?
I need change the chassis number to correspond w/ a valid registration of a destroyed car.
Thanks

I'm not sure that what you suggest doing is legal or morally right. How can people know that you are not putting the serial number from a wreck (purchased for next to nothing) onto a stolen car ?

Ok there's a total of 5 or 4 I think.

1. Front trunk stamped on the front right wheel well
2. Front trunk just below the front right wheel well has the metal plate.
3. VIN plate on the drivers left hand side winshield.
4. VIN is on the drivers side door jamb on the vehicle sticker etc...
5. I think in the engine bay there's sticker with the engine serial numbers but I can't remember if it has the vin or not.

The winshield is the easy one to change but the rest if you alter them you won't be able to sell it unless the purchaser doesn't care if it's stolen or not. The best route is to have the state dmv put there authorized stamp on it. Last I heard tampering with vins was illegal.

The VIN numbers must match the registration and owners certificate. I know of no legal way to transfer the title and registration from a wrecked car to one for which you have either a salvaged title or no title.

I see that you have a hotmail account....not good....I also see that you have not listed where you live not at all good....

What you are doing is illegal....go to Atlanta, there is a shop that specializes in that....

I just got a personal email from the original poster.....he is not from the US and is the only guy in his country that has a 914.

So if it legal for him to do so....

There are legal ways to do this. I had the same problem with a Vanagon 1986. But, it takes time and effort with and DMV. Just switching the numbers is strongly ill-advised. When your playing with the VIN number, consider that, you are also playing with Grand Theft Auto. VIN numbers are about as serious as a IRS tax audit.
MikeZ: is this guy really out of the US?
