Chassis stiffening design ques.
I am thinking of making a chassis stiffening arrangement using square tubing that runs from the door latch area to the middle of the longs etc.. I am not interested in a full rollcage and hope to have this made so it does the job, but isn't too much in the way of things. If anyone knows of or has a fullproof design like this, I would appreciate some info. and possibly some pics. I am familiar with the kit that installs along the inside of the longs., but am not interested in using that. Thanks, Pete

well pete if you run a stiffener from the fire wall ( or door latch ) to the middle of the long you will be putting all of the stress in the middle of the long where it can not handle it. another common place for our cars to crack is the parking brake handle area. if you want to stiffen the car the inner long kit with a bar that goes thru the fire wall from the suspension to the middle of the long will do a lot for the car.
i plan on doing the inner long kit ( will make my own ) with a roll bar with a bar that goes to the rear shock tower, then another from the roll bar to the middle of the long. and when are you comming for a ride
