You need to be specific. Each racing body has its own classes and quirks and they change often. On the subject of NOS..it has been done so many times before with air-cooled engines their is nothing left to discuss! Any Hot VWs issue will get you what ya need ;-). BTW I saw a bug at Baylands raceway in Fremont CA, the fastest track in the world before they closed it, with normally aspirated carbs and NOS do a 10 sec 1/4 mile. The mustang it raced did a 15 sec run. OUCH! This was a race what ya brung class race.

I put a NOS on a Toyota Supra Turbo. On the Gas (which only had the stock 50 HP jets) it had so much power that it would break the clutch free. There was too much power for the Clutch to hold. I was able to baby it for a 13.9 sec run which is not bad for a 3750 lb car and a six banger. I removed the NOS and it now sits in my garage.
Just remember there are other things to consider than the ENGINE. |
