Thinking on bidding on this 914 that is on ebauy - I am in WA and the car is in CA. Any body know anything the car?

thats a very forthcoming description I think. He addresses all the important points about rust. He doesn't address transmission, brakes or suspension, though....

The oil leak is probably coming from the top of the heads. I had a mysterious oil leak that I thought was the pushrod tubes, but now that my engine is apart, I see that the where the head and the cylinder meets at the top, I was having some blowback and the oil leaked down.

I interpret it as the engine needs to be "freshened" up.

Thanks to all that replied. I missed out on the auction. The car sold for $1,575. Had it been a little closer to me, I may have been willing to pay that. Still looking for a rough but running 914 in the Pacific Northwest area if anyone has one.

Go to the 914 club classifieds.
You would have to be pretty stupid to sell a bad car there as it will get picked to death and the owner will have to pay for some one to take it.
3000+ members strong some has a 914 in thier nieghbor hood I'm sure.
