914 control board

My 914/6 control board (the one holding the alt. voltage regulator and other relays), which is the same as a 4 (I guess) has a tar coating on the underside. Over the years the tar has cracked and I've decided to remove the rest. Question now is, do I recoat it with roofing tar or epoxy or is there some other better way. I'd like to hear from anyone who has faced this issue.

I would coat it with a thick clear epoxy, so that you can see if there is anything going on inside the board. Just make sure that it's non-conductive.

The 914-6 and 914-4 have different relay boards, as far as I can remember...

Hope this helps,
