2005 Porsche "914"
I found this on the Popular Mechanics web site. This sounds, and the picture looks, different than the post last month which speculated that a "new" 914 would be based on the VW/Audi 1.8 Turbo four cylinder. The picture posted last month from Road & Track also appeared to be the recently released V10 supercar Porsche just announced as the Carrera GT (see 12/00 issue of excellence). No mention of the engine, except stating there is no collaberation with VW/Audi. Maybe a new boxster four?

Originally meant as the entry-level car for the Porsche marque, the Boxster is still expensive compared with the Toyota MR2 and Mazda Miata. So the company is creating a new entry-level model. And, they are doing it without collaborating with their traditional partners, VW or Audi. Not surprisingly, early design studies reveal a car very much like the current Boxster. |
