Cam advice sought...
I'm preparing to rebuild a 2.0 motor for my 914. In researching cams, I checked with Web-Cam. I emailed them with some questions about the relative performance of their mild performance Type 4 cam (00-472) relative to their "stock" Type 4 replacement cam.
Laurie from Web-Cam told me that the stock cam makes power from 0 rpms to about 4500, while the 00-472 grind makes its power from 2000 - 5500 rpm. Questions: Does this mean that I would have a motor with virtually no low-end compared to stock? And does it mean that I would need to rev higher to make peak power? (I assume so) Finally, has anyone else run this cam? It is advertised as a good performance alternative for stock FI with mechanical lifters, which is what I intend to go with. However, I don't want general driveablility to suffer. I am planning to run the European 8:1 pistons, as well. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks, Dan Schmitz |
