Back fireing

Hi all.

One of my injectors (74 D 2.0) was leaking fule so I replaced it at the weekend.

With the new one in place at idle there is a pretty regular back firing. I can get rid of it by increasing the idle but it is too high (2000rpm). I have turned the screw on the computer all the way lean as well.

I guess because the old injector was dirty and the new one lets more fule in, the mixture is now too rich on that cylinder.

The Preassure sensor has been altererd in the past. If I change it again to make the enine run leaner will the other three cylinders not be too lean?

Has anyone had problems like this and had to replace all 4 injectors to balance things out?

Andy

I would check the injector seals as there may be a vac leak and lean running is causing the backfire since you leaned out the brain and it didn't help. I would also do a cranking capacity check on all injectors to see what they are. Make sure there are no sparks,I.E. completely remove the coil wire at both ends and crank over for 20 secs or so and measure the fluid level. Good luck.
