Type 4 finned aluminum valve covers...
Hi. I in the process of buying the parts needed to rebuild a 2.0L I have. Has anyone had experience with finned aluminum Type 4 valve covers, the ones that bolt to the rocker arm towers? They are claimed to offer better cooling for the oil and also better sealing of the valve cover gasket as it rides in a groove.
I'm looking for any feedback, positive or negative. Thanks, Dan |

To tell you the truth I have used both throughout the years and if you have a good set of stock valve covers and they don't leak then stick with them. The aluminum ones look cool but I have yet to keep them from leaking for any length of time short of JB Welding them. Then there are the little rubber seals around the bolts, etc.... which you have to deal with whenever you do valve jobs. You make the choice.
