Original owners?
Was curious how many others out there are original owners of their 914's? I got mine in December of 1970 and my kids will fight over it when I'm long gone. Changed quite a few things over the years but it still looks like new, with 112,000miles, mostly put on it the first 10 years. One of these days I may have to get a Boxster S to join it. Couldn't believe how much the Boxster cut-away picture looks like a updated 914-6. At least with the 914 you don't have to physically remove a panel to see the engine!

To answer the opposite of what you asked
, of the three 914's I've owned over the years, none were even close to being purchased from the original owner. They were all generations of PO later. Come to think of it, I don't know that any PO had any clue who the original owner was.

Though I'm the second owner of my 1972, I feel like its "dad", since I've owned it since 1976! I do have the original bill of sale though ($4075 delivered).

I have a 76 2.0 I inherited from my dad, He purchased it from Interlake Porsche(Bellevue Washington) for $7200.
Dad kept great records of all the maintenance that was performed as well as the mileage. I have the invoice and it cracks me up to see the optional silver paint was $25.00. I just had the 2.0 rebuilt and the car has 160K on it.I was lucky that it was always garaged. Since my dad passed away last January it's nice to drive a car that meant so much to him, it kind of keeps him alive for me. |
