Question COA Questions & Acceptable Mods.

When i bought my 914 it also came with a COA. The only discrepancy that i found is that the COA says the cars original color was Saturn Yellow. The tag on the car says it should be Delphi Metalic Green, the serial numbers on the body all match and the engine numbers also match. Has anyone else found or heard of discrepancies on the COA's they have???

Also, what is everyones opinion on installing the trunk shocks and removing the rollers and springs(which always break). Do you think it takes away from the value of the car or helps?? I am contemplating removing the old system entirely and cleaning it up and installing the more up to date shocks?? What do ya think?

Jeff,

I have a COA at home for my Light Ivory 74 that states that the car is Signal Orange. After I received the COA, I called and questioned the error and was told that the COA could not be wrong. There is not a drop of Signal Orange on that car!! Since the car is now is the process of being dismantled, I'm not pressing the issue.

As fa r as the springs and rollers for the rear deck lid, there seems to be quite a few people doing this, and I'm planning on
doint it next spring. In my opinion, if it's not a concourse winning car, do it.

Thanks for the response,
So what are you going to do about the color??? Leave it or paint it signal orange???
The trunk shocks just seem to be a much better alternative to the uneeded stress that the rollers seem to present. Do you know of anyone who has done the update and if they are pleased with the function and fit or what?

I have heard of several errors on COAs. Usually all it takes is to contact Barbara Hurz at PCNA and they reverify and correct it if its wrong. I doubt they will change one that has been issued in the past, but they will if you just purchased it.

Like I said in my original post, the car is now being dismantled. I retired it two years ago due to terminal rust issues. Back when I drove the car, the thought of painting it Signal Orange never crossed my mind. Even though the door plate was missing, it was obvious then and is obvious now that the car was originally Light Ivory.
