Accelerator pedal bolts
Any tricks up your sleeves for removing the rusted bolts that secure the accelerator pedal to the floorboard? I've been soaking the area in liquid wrench/WD40 for awhile but have been unable to budge them.

I've had gpood luck with a CRC 5-56 or a CRC 6-56 (marine formula) spray. It worked when WD 40 and the others didn't. All the old car restorers spray the fasteners with a good blast of the stuff every day for a week before they even attempt to loosen them. Another trick to try is to repeatedly tap the bolt head with a hammer right after spraying it. This tapping sends a shock wave down the bolt, the shock wave minutely swells the bolt diameter, breaks the rust bond, and allows the spray to penetrate.
I haven't tried the others but they tend to advertise in engineering or product manufacturing magazines. Good luck Ken Wales |

I was told about this technique a few years back and it seems to work. In addition to the penetrating oil, hit the bolts with a 3/8 impact on the lowest setting. Put more oil on and let sit, hit them again with the impact on the next setting. Repeat over and over slowly increasing the impact setting until bolts come free. Give the oil time to work and have patience with the impact and they should come right out.

Thanks much for each of your suggestions. As soon as I get some of these products, I'll carefully begin anew.
