Drain Hole In Engine Compartment(Driver Side)

On the 1973 914 2.0 L is there a drain hole for water? I am getting water into passenger cabin from the engine compartment release cable. I noticed this after a very heavy down pour.

There are actually two drains located in the forward part of the engine compartment, below the two spouts for the engine cover plastic rain shelf. If you look down in those areas, there will be two spots that will hold water if the drain clogs (which it will do). The drain hole has a rubber piece in it, that sticks outward towards the side of the car. If you feel under the car, up abouve the swing arm mounts, you should find it. It can be popped out to clean, but be ready for an arm of water :-).

Same symptoms here.

Cause: engine lid seal not sealing + stupid sound pad in engine compartment = hole rusted through firewall just above the cable.

Here is a pic of mine. http://members.rennlist.com/a914lover/page5-4.htm
