clutch/ tranny help

teener had to take a flatbed home from work last night. new AAA paid for this one, already worth the signup fee in towing so far.

was loosing power just thought it might have been a FI problem. but 3rd was starting to go out/slip, at next light lost all drive. car tries to get in a gear but wont pull at all.

going to have to check everthing back there.
drive shafts, transmission, throw out bearings. and to top it off i will be out of town next week on business. hope to get a chance to look thru some of it tonight to figure out what went wrong.

It's your muffler bearing.

took a look underneath last night
didn't have a lot of time to get a full idea what is going on

put the rear of the car up on jack stand and rocked the wheels back and forth a little and had the engine turn them in the air OK, with out any grinding sounds.

but after messing around a little was able to get it to stay in first or reverse up and down the driveway a couple of times, then it slipped out of gear and wouldn't keep catch anymore. other forward gears don't engage either

haven't had a chance to check linkage yet

is this maybe a linkage issue? like something with a 1st/rev repair that i have read about in the tech section, or is this a full tranny removal to replace the clutch?

wont have the time to really get into this for a few weeks, business trip out of town. but want to know what i am in for when i get back. going to get to read repair manuals on the plane. wee.

oh and another fun thing occured...the horn stays on now when the car is started/running. taking out the horn fuse wouldnt stop...had to take the wires off the horns to shut them up while trying to figure out the tranny issues...probably a short somewhere but iw will worry about this one later once the thing is running

I'll start with the easy one-
horn pad on the steering wheel has the ground wire for the horn attached- if the wire gets pinched or the pad is on crooked it will make the horn sound off.
I believe you have a clutch or throw-out bearing problem causing clutch slippage and poor engage/disengage action.

well if horn is disconected from the button and the fuse is removed where would the connection be occuring?

the more i read and check things out it sure is looking like the throw out or the clutch. when i get a chance will be able to really get my hands dirty and find out what i have to buy for replacment parts.

Hi

As far as the horn connection problem, I had a similar problem in my 912. It turned out to be the horn relay stuck. Smack it, if it dosent break loose replace it. Good luck
