How much oil for 914-6 ?

Hi all,

Well after 12 years of work (10 years in storage) I am back on
my 914-6 project. Should be able fire her in the next month.

'74 2.7, RS pistons and cylinders, Webers/intake (PMS), mild head work (CMW), turbo oil pump and return mod,
very early Velios oil tank (holds oil), RX7 turbo cooler, AJ oil thermostat,
large S/S oil lines and AN fittings every where.

So here is the question:

How do I determine how much oil to put in ?

(I sure don't want to start it with too little !!!!!!!)

thanks,

bob

Put in 8 quarts.....run it until the thermostat opens around 180F. Then with the engine RUNNING pull the dipstick and fill the oil tank to the bottom line.

I started with 10 quarts in a fresh engine with no external coooler. Had to add two more when it was warm (Velios tank).

BTW.....I would also spin it over with the coil wire disconnected to get some oil pumping thru.
