Thumbs up I think the fiance finally understands

So, I took my 525HP car out to the track the other day (still on radials, so I am the fastest/slowest car out there), and while getting everything together, my fiance says "I just don't understand how you can spend so much $$ on this car, then spend money to race it, then need to spend more to buy better tires, so you can spend more to race it, so you can spend...."

I got home that evening, said what the Hell, she has never ridden in the car, so I told her to jump in after I got if off the trailer and I took her around the block.

I turned onto a "major" street, and hit the gas about 1/2 way, and she didn't expect it, so she let out the most shrill scream I have ever heard from her! Then she started laughing.

And then "Wow, I can totally see how you get into this! Do it again!"

It is like crack - just one little jaunt around the block...

I love it! LOL! That's how it's supposed to work! Unfortunately, it's rare in women.

A buddy of mine was in town this weekend, delivering his 71 BBC powered, 8-71 blown, aluminum headed Vette to the buyer. Anyway, I took him for a ride and drive in my wimpy stock 1.8, and he was giggling like a schoolgirl the entire time! The thought crossed his mind to get one for himself, but he's got his sights set on a C5 instead. At least now he knows what he'll be missing!

You might be surprised when he gets that C5! Those cars flat handle and have plenty of power for a good time. Here at work there are a few other engineers into beating their cars, so we rent a track every few months and go out. Two brothers each have C5 Z06s (about 6-7 C5s show up, but one brother is the fastest guy), and with Kumhos (or similar type race radials) I was really impressed.

I rode with the faster brother at Buttonwillow recently and it was a blast. The new Z06 is going to be THE car to beat IMO. Add some good tires with 505HP from the factory... the right driver is going to school the fast 911s and won't need any suspension mods, etc.

Only downside is that when you really beat 'em, the transmission gets too hot and shuts the power down to limp mode. That may only be the automatics, not sure. The slower brother hit limp mode more than once out at Buttonwillow - he may have an auto, though that would surprise me. In any event, that was the only Achilles heel I saw.
