2nd gear

ok... everything on my car has been working great recently.... well here it is christmas day and i am on my way home from my friends familys house... and i drive away, shift into second gear and as i hit about 2600 or so the car starts to jerk violently untill it gets past about 3000 i was thinking i wasn't going fast enough or something when i shifted. got to a stop light started off 1st , 2nd, 3rd.. no problems. next stop light it does it again when i say it jerks it is enough to make my car look like it has hydrolics front and rear, it will lunge forward then jerk back then lunge forward and jerk back, 3 or for time s is a mater of a second or so, like i am pushing in the clutch and leting go realy fast as i'm trying to excellerate, but it doesn't slip in high gears at high speed, just seems to do it in second. anyone know whats going on???
