Master Cylinder 19mm
Okay I am in the middle of replacing my 17mm with a 19mm and I relized something..I don't have the rubber gromet/seal things for the filler lines on top of the master... Any Ideas..I didn't see them on P Parts..
Should I try to reuse the 17mm? Thanks |

I'm sure Pelican carries them -- they're just not on the website.
I'd think long and hard before using the ones from the 17mm, but I have zero experience removing and replacing the grommets (my 19mm mc came with them). If they look good, _maybe_ I'd do it. I'm just a little chicken when it comes to parts that make my car stop ![]() scott |

They usually come with the master cylinder. I would not use the old ones unless they are in very good shape. Any leaks here can let air into the system. They are also a pain in the butt to get in once they are on the pipes. I did mine by unhooking the resevoir and pulling the lines downward for more slack. Then popped the fill lines in before bolting in the master. I am sure there are different methods.
Good luck, Mike |

My MC had them too. They are available as separate items in several VW catalogues. My guess is there is a one size fits all plug for those ATE MC's as my Vanagon MC also had them. Just makes good design/manufacturability sense to have one part and those Germans are good at that. Try asking Wayne if he has them or can get them. If not, contact me and I will hook you up with a VW site that has them.
Be sure you have the washer that fits under the plug! Ken ------------------ |

The washer? I guess I need some educating.
All I have is the master Cylinder and all the ridgid fittings. What washers are you refering to..I don't want to take any chances with the brakes. Thanks again |

On the top of the master cylinder are two openings, with rubber grommets, that attach to the lines from the master cylinder resevoir. Usually a new master cylinder comes with them, but if not, they are available.
