Trunk Lock Cylinder Re-key?
 

Can a 914 trunk lock cylinder be re-keyed to match the key to the doors?

I have a trunk lock assembly but no key for it. Thus, the need for an ander to the above question. Thanks

Yup, it can be re-keyed. It's easy to take out, too! And the lock cylinder works just the same as the door ones, so you can use the same procedures (see our Tech Article on the subject).

Ken Mack did all of my locks quite a few years ago... Maybe the guys at SporTech still have lots of spare lock pins?

My niece's 914 is missing the rear trunk assembly and I am giving her a late XMas present. Just wanted to make sure that a local Porsche mechanic or locksmith would be able to re-key it.

Plan on spending $150 for a locksmith to do it. I had mine done by one of the guys on the board. Hopefully he or someone will reply and offer to do it for a fraction of the price. It's pretty nice having one key that does it all. Eddy

The guys at High Performance House in Redwood City, CA sold me a used one and re-keyed it to my door lock for something like $100 a few months ago. I don't remember the precise amount, but it was around $100. You might want to check with them...

Oh man! It's so easy to do yourself! If you are only doing one lock and dont have extra tumblers, you can remove some or file some down to get it to work. Save you $$, you know there will be something else down the line!

Sergio: There only 4 sizes of waffers. The springs are 1 size. Scott Thacher did a great thread on it at the 914 Club. The information here is what got him to do them.
Buy a broken lock and strip it. Then you got spares. I have 2 cars keyed to 1 key.
