friday's big brake adventure

in prep for a drive down to eureka on sunday, i decided to repad and adj the rear venting clearence on the fri before . i'm a glutton for punnishment. so...what the heck is wrong with the one adjuster? inside driver side. remove caliper, AGAIN. it does nothing. make the panic call to PMB Performance. page the ceo/cfo/parts manager/tec advisor. take a crash course in
"how a caliper works" turns out the little inner clog was all stripped out. locate a caliper locally. clean up. drive to tacoma. get caliper. drive home. bench test inner adj (wasn't going to risk r&r off again). DEFECTIVE!!! call and tell local firm. "what's wrong with it ?" "the inner vent clearance adj, doesn't work", "one moment please", "hello how can i help you", go through drill, "it shouldn't matter. your car has floating rear pads" ."it's defective". "bring it back". "do you have another". "yes". "for the drivers side?". "one moment please". " the other one we have is for the pass side, we only stock matching sets (i almost asked if the pass side was defective to "match"). we can have another one for you on sat, maybe". "please check". "one moment please". "we can prob get you one on mon, tues for sure". GREAT!! "borrow" one off the 041 car in the neighbor's garage. bench test. perfection. install. the only other upside was how fast the brakes bled. speedbleeders, to cool. gonna seat the pads later. vac and wash today and i'm good to go. Let's Motorvate!!!
