You planning on importing a handful of these "kits"?

If you are, let me know; am always interested in doohickeys of this sort, as long as the price is "reasonable".

No I saw this on Shoptalkforum. You can order from the e-mail address on the site. Steve

Got a response from JAYCAR Electronics: At a current 2:1 exchange rate ($2US to $1AU), you're talking 130 Dead Presidents, plus $8 Airmail.

Guess they're not planning on selling too many here. Maybe if the PC boards were available, components can be gotten.

Rouser,

I think you got the exchange rate reversed. It is 2 AUD$ for 1 US$. At that rate, the kit costs 32,50 US$ ! It becomes quite a bit more interesting .

In fact, I am quite sure.

The AUS dollar is worth $0.49 US. Steve

Whoops! Had the calculator turned upside-down & bass-ackwards; guess I'll eat crow on this one. My faus pas; I was positive us Gingos were doing a lot better than them.

Humm, I might give this little piece a whirl.

Guys,
I have purchased one of the kits to use on 73 2.0 I intend linking it to the CDI kit from the same supplier. The kit is comprehensive with the ability to select from two different timing set-ups (advance, dwell etc..)and this can be done from inside the car. The system will also accept an input from a knock sensor (building one of those).
Only difficulty is that the rotor needs to be modified. Using a non speed limiting rotor, the contactor point needs to be changed to a long conductive material in the shape of an ark. This allows the rotor to be in contact with the distributor / plug lead, long after it has passed the normal contact point. - The system works by extensively advancing the distributor, and then electronically controlling the delay time between rotor to plug contact & coil fire. Hence electronic timing.

It is a low cost kit, that makes for an interesting experiment. Who knows, it may really help.

Clinton
