Post An Annoyance

When I hit the right turn signal and brake, the turn signal indicator (above the tach) blinks as if the hazards were on. Why?

I am currently going through this problem on my car, but I think I know the solution. Check the light bulb in the turn signal housing to make sure it is not burnt out, also pull it out and clean the contacts up. Also, check around the back of the housing where the wires connect and make sure everything is connected properly and everything is making a good contact. I am pretty sure that is the problem, but if not, then it might be the wires that go to the turn signal stalk, or even the blinker relay itself, which is located on top of the fuse panel by your left foot.

It's been awhile since I've looked at the wiring diagram for the turn signal switch, but a previous post hit the nail on the head... crossed wires.

The most likely spot to look is the flasher unit... one wire or set of wires will be attached for the left side, same for right side. Simply switch the wires to the opposite connection. Now the left should blink when left is selected, etc.

A simple error made when the flasher unit was replaced.
