Dyno-graph
As I was looking for fuel injection parts for my newly purschased 89 Alfa Spider........(don't get upset I still have my 74 1.8 setting next to it in the garage)........ I came across this item.......Dyno-Graph.......It's a small box with a two wire lead that connects to a oxygen sensor.......The box has three red,four green and three yellow lights that indicate a rich or lean mixture........My 89 Alfa has a Bosche L type system(same as my 1.8) so I believe that the Dyno-Graph should work with the 914........I found this graph at no. 15259000........By the way check out the price for a auxilery air valve in thier cataloge $135.00..WOW........I think that I might have to turn the boys in the Alfa chat room on to Pelican Parts for thier fuel injection needs.........

I can't find the product you mention at the website listed. Can you try getting to the page where you found it, then posting the URL for that specific page?
One thing to think about--the 89 Alfa probably has an O2 sensor installed as part of the FI system. There's a decent chance this dyno-graph device simply shows the lights to you based on the voltage output of the O2 sensor. To use it in a 914, you'd have to purchase and install an O2 sensor, which involves welding the fitting onto your exhaust somewhere... --DD |

The O2 sensor is easy to install (if you have access to a welder), the three wire is preferred because it doesn't require a long heat up period. In my opinion the gauge looks much better than the lightbrite boxes. ------------------ Chris 75 914 2.0L |
Sorry guys....the website is www.international-auto.com The kit contains the box,oxygen sensor and nut for welding onto the exhaust system.

If anyone wants to build their own O2 gauge, i found a website that has instructions on 'how to'. if anyone is interested i'll dig up the URL and post it.
if your exhaust manifolds aren't grouned very well, the O2 sensor reading will be off! if this is the case, go with the four wire O2 sensor that has the ground wire. woo hoo! looking up all the overboost info finally paid off and i had something worthwhile to contribute to the board! my $.02 |

Actually, Pelican has an article on a DIY mixture gauge. I'm sure it's accessible from the 911 tech articles page, not sure about the 914 articles page.
I'm glad to see the CB kit has come down in price in the last few years. I bought the three-wire kit, and it was (I think) over $150. But in my humble opinion, the gauge they supply looks awful. Particularly when you compare it to the VDO gauges I also have in my center console. I went with CB's gauge specifically becuase I was trying to get something that looked OK when placed next to the VDO gauges. I failed--the CB one is big chunky cheap-looking plastic. http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/frown.gif When I get time, money, and inclination, I'll see if I can get Palo Alto Speedo to make me a gauge that looks like a real VDO one. Cool, but I'm sure it will be very expensive... BTW, if anyone wants a VDO gauge that duplicates the functioning of the CB one, I can probably get them to make up two or three just as easily as one.
