Engine Update
Finally got to go look at it and take pictures...
It's a 76 930 engine. The current owner has all the paperwork on it. It was used by Porsche for the emissions certifications here in the states. It was removed from the original chassis by Vasly Polak in 85, reason unknown. It was sold to the current owner in 1986. He has had it sitting on a dolly in 3 different garages in 3 different states (socal, az, and texas) since then. It has not run since 1986. He considers it a core motor in need of rebuild. It is complete and even comes with a 935 header. No transmission for it at all. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1147309609.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1147309655.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1147309725.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1147309792.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1147309843.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1147309899.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1147309944.jpg So...waddya think now??? |
wow! I wish I had that! are you going to get it?? I saw your poll on the club about it, and it was pretty obvious everyone said get it. If you dont mind, how much is the guy selling it for?? lol, I'm a junior member over here...
So what ya waitin on???
See how much thay want for that tow bar.
It does appear to be in tough shape, and not what I would call a 935 motor. Still, it may have some useful parts. However it is no longer a real bargain, it may be a money pit.
It's worth 2500 bucks......hell I'd buy it for that. I have a 76 930 roller up the street. Guy would prolly use it as a smog engine and then put his twin plug, twin turbo in it afterwards....
I'll take it!!
I'll PM you my shipping address. KT |

Update... Dateline Hurst TX.
I am going to go pick up the motor this afternoon. |
Good, remember.....ForwardAir is my preferred shipper. Should only be 180 bucks to LA and I'll pick it up there.....
Good score Clay...

It puzzles me why you guys keep referring to this motor, which is CLEARLY marked as a "911 Turbo", as a "930". It's a POS early 911 3 litre turbo, with NONE of the advantages of the later motors. By the late 70s it cost $15K to rebuild, and prices (as you may have noticed) have gone up a bit since then. Labor rates alonme have tripled, or more, and parts prices are at least double what they were then.
If you put that in your 914, I'd say that your probably compensating for a shortness... somewhere... else.
im sure the 935 header is worth some bucks....
and mod it to fit in a 914!!! |

It's home, and I got everything but the header.. I called him last night and told him I wanted the motor. This afternoon he called me and said that the header didn't come with it.
Got it anyway... but I am a bit miffed about the header. It did come with a replacement spring for the wastegate to up the boost. :-D |
