coating 914/6 heat exchangers?
I was crawling around under my /6 for more-or-less the first time last weekend. My heat exchangers look fine, but I'm wondering. Is there something I can do to keep them that way? Jet Hot perhaps? Are there other options?
Thx, Skip Montanaro 'nother 914clubber in withdrawal... ![]() |

Jet Hot is expensive and claim to be lifetime warranty......but for the money and time and hassle......I would just keep them clean and pull them once a year and spray them with BBQ hi-temp paint.

I Jet Coated the complete exhaust systewm on my 32 Ford roadster. $600 total. The pic shows just the headers, I went all the way back including the new Flowmaster mufflers.Fortunately RM coatings is close by so I can drop them off and pickup without having to ship.

I recently had my stock 2.0L HEs, intake manifolds, all the heater ducting and 2 mufflers ceramic coated with Techline ceramic coating. Comes in a few colors, I used the Titanium color which is a light grey color identical to the stock grey, but its a higher performance coating of course. It was under $400 for the whole system including a second muffler.
www.techlinecoatings.com They list local applicators on the website, but not all applicators are listed, so call around to local shops. They will even sell product directly to you if you want to do it yourself. |
