Side marker lights

I'm having steel flares installed on my 72 and the side marker lights will be removed, the holes welded up.

I'm thinking about adding some European style side marker lights [see picture] aft of the flares. I've seen photos of other 914 owners who have done this. My question is how the European light were wired up. Do I just wire them directly to the existing leads from the original lights?

You can, but at that location you may want to consider turning them into turn signals instead. Also, if you can get a dual element set up you can do both running AND flasher. There are options.

Thanks Mike, I never considered the turn signal option. It would make sense to go that route, or better yet the dual element set up. Think I'll check into that.
