Starter solenoid question - spring

I bought a new solenoid at my FLAPS because I broke the wire stud on my old one. Anyways, the new one doesn't have a spring on the end that plugs into the starter like the old one. Why?

What is the spring for, and is it needed on the new one? I'm pretty sure I can just transfer the spring over onto the new one, but I just want to check beforehand. TIA.

New one is on the left.

It returns the plunger to the "non-op" position when the power to the solenoid is cut (key in run position, not start position).

Just transfer it over or go back to your FLAPS, make a scene and demand your spring........
