I believe they do, but have no personal experience. The Niedels used to run cantilever slicks on 7 inch cookie cutters on the front of their 914 race car. Car had stock front fenders.

do you have the 225s you got mounted on your 7 inch wheels. put them on and give them a try.

dude! just run 'em .... i had the front too wide before. only matters if you go over a hump (like a driveway) on full wheel-lock, during driving (even AX) it's OK ...

it's not like you haven't pulled your fenders before ...

I'm worried about "burn through" when the tires scrub the inside of the fenders.

I gots the new paint now. So it matters.

Can I test fit them and do something to observe travel.

Trekkor,

Mount one of your 225s that is on a 7 up front. Jack the entire front of the car up. Remove your sway bar link on that side and then mark and remove your torsion bar adjuster on the same side. Then use a floor jack to raise the tire/wheel/spindle combination to full suspension (shock) compression and turn your wheels....should give you a pretty good idea how things will sit with out damaging paint or body work. If feel your pain.

huh? you got a 914, right?

have you ever ran tires in the front that were too wide? they *don't* rub on the inside of your fenders ...

they *might* rub on your fender wells, but that won't effect your outside paint.
they *might* hit the fender edge on full lock if you hit a bump, but again, that never happened to me at speed, only on really slow, full lock turns. and then it wasn't the inside of the outside fender, it was the tire hitting the fender edge, where you usually "roll" your fenders.

you sure 225's on 7"s wont interfer with the fender lip?

my 205's on 7" fuchs can rub the lip at full compression while turning slightly

only, and *only* if they're already wider that your fender lip at rest. if they're 1/16" towards the inside, they won't rub the lip at speed ...

I have 205/60 x 15 tires mounted on 6.5" x 15" Revolution wheels with 5-1/8" back space. At full lock the tires will rub the inner fender well (trunk wall), but this has not been a problem in normal driving. There is only a small scuffed spot in each fender well. The inner wall of the outer fender (exterior body) is not affected.
