Who Needs a 74 Tach?

I have needed a tach for my 74 since I got it. Mine does this really wierd thing where it won't work when it's cold but when it's hot, I can bang on the front of it a few times with a screwdriver handle and it will come on for a few moments and then quit again. sometimes it will be working fine and then I have to turn on the lights and when I do, the tach goes dead. Strange.

i could use one, my tach works it just will stick some times at like 2000 and then jump up to current rpm's

Ground problem did cross my mind but I wouldn't know where to begin troubleshooting.

Start with all the main grounds first, battery to tub, trans, alt. they cause all kinds of weird things to happen. Then start at the dizzy and follow the wiring harness.

my tach used to go out when the wire fell out of the back up light switch and it would hit the h/e's it would short out the tach - i didn't even know they were on the same circuit!
