3.6 liter conversion

Has anyone out there done this conversion? I need a few good ideas for getting one and then installing it. My car currently has a 3 liter with a Velios 915 tranny.

should be more or less plug & play for you. the 915 is a good choice. what kind of motor mount do you currently have?

you *will* need an external oil cooler as the 3.6L doesn't have one build in.
i highly recommend a front mounted one that get's some real air flow. if you plan to drive the car on the street, i also highly recommend a fan for the oilcooler to keep the air flowing while sitting in traffic.

i'm going to do a 3.6L conversion myself at some point soon. i already got the motor and exhaust ...

I'm in the middle of one. What is stated above, plus you'll need to modify your existing sheet metal to fit the 3.6. If you're going with stock FI, I flipped the intake to make it fit without cutting up the body and then you'll need to fabricate a throttle linkage of some sort. I've got a buch of pics of the sheet metal mods if you need them. It's a classic thread on the currently unavailable 914club site.

It's a tube frame racer, no sheet metal, running PMO's and has a front cooler, actually three of them. Two for oil that keep the car at 165 degrees on the track and one for the tranny, that runs at 190.

Oh yeah, add some engine goodies to your list unless it came out of a 914. Add single pulley conversion and cam block off plate (fills hole left by power steering pump).

Here's a pic of flipped intake:

the chief got all good points there, my engine was already modded for 914 use, so i got the blockoff and the smaller pulley. i also second the flipping of the upper intake if you still have the stock firewall between the engine bay and the rear trunk.
altough, on a tubeframe racecar, i'm thinking you might just have enough room there already ...

3.6L CONVERSION

Prepare yourself mentally, for your wallet will never be seen again.

However,the rewards are pure hedonism.
