Bad timing for this thread when I'm headed to Harbor Freight after work for cheap tools!

I'm done with Sears/Craftsman after 3 or 4 generations.

That's the same hoist Harbor Freight sells, and there's one in my garage. However, I doubt I'll ever try to lift more than 500lbs with it. Someone on that thread claimed the transmission they were using weighs 500lbs all by itself, and a big block is another 1000lbs. I've owned whole cars that weighed less than that engine/gearbox package.

Wow, the jack is supposed to support up to 2 tons which as I recall is 4000 pounds? Must be some cheap Chinese steel. Mine doesnt look like that at all and has done several heavy engine and trans combos with no problem. I got it from Costco several years ago. I keep loaning it out to people and it keeps coming back.

Took the words right out of my mouth. I was going to say; three guesses where the jack was manufactured, and the first two don't count!

I saw the thread title and I was picturing a monkey wrench. In the Billiard Room. With Col. Mustard.
