Not sure about this one but after Joe got his done with the price they charged him, I am thinking it is not worth it anymore to take a car down there. The workmanship is not worthy of the prices they have elevated to. This is just my opinion however, feel free to have your work done there if you are so inclined. I know I wont be taking any cars down there anymore.

the locals are singing folk songs about "el gringo"

they apparently have documented video evidence of his existence.

Aaron do you mind telling what kind of deal you got? I'm curious cause if they are too high I'm going to have to make some new plans.

for reference... my car needed a fender sectioned in, but i did alot of prepping and i stripprd EVERYTHING out of the car. motor wiper motors etc... doors. delovered a bare tub....

cost me just under 2grand for loooots of work.

2 people just had cars done down there, the swede was just under 4g (a TON of work tho) and im not sure what buckle paid....

prices are goingup, and its not such a deal anymore....

Maybe it's time to scout another shop then. I have heard from some locals that Ensenada has some good shops. Then again I don't want to be the first to try them out either. I did that in TJ and my car ended up looking like Poo.

there are a few guys who work in their backyards and do show quality lowriders down there. The issue is security though.

What ya gonna do if your car is gone?
call the cops?

I was greatly considering sending my little blue beater down there. But seeing as how the prices have nearly doubled in under a year... I'll probably do 99% of the body and prep work myself, and have calibre or maaco do a top-notch spray on top of what I do. It would only cost maybe $1000 for paint and their prep, and just my time and materials. It would all probably work out to the same as what Los Ponchos used to charge.

I guess they're charging more because word got around that they were cheap. Their work is now on-par with what an independant shop here in SoCal can do.
