Porsche center reflector

Can anyone tell me why some of the 914's have the porsche reflector between the tail lights and some do not. Is this something that can be put on aftermarket, or is it not possible if it didn't come original?

All are aftermarket installs, most by the dealers, and the best one to use/find (gettin' pretty rare) is the cut-down 911 reflector.

Don't grieve over not having one; most prefer the look without one, and you don't have to worry about drilling (or filling) holes required for installation.

The rear reflectors you see are actually cut down 911 reflectors put on by owners of the cars. This was never a factory or dealer option. There were some reflectors madespecificly for the 914 by aftermarket vendors.

If this is something you want to do, there are often some for sale either on eBay or either of the 914 web sites. Be warned that you will need to drill 4 to 6 holes in the back panel and install either an electric or manual release for the rear deck lid.

Find a big reflector at the junkyard, off of a different car, and cut it on a table saw using a plastic cutting blade. If you do this it won't say Porsche and will be unique. Mine looks awesome and I siliconed it on. It cost me $15 to make one. Then I sold my mint ,unused original aftermarket one on Ebay for a stunning$345.00 Pete

Mine has one. I bought it this way.I wish it didn't, but the holes are drilled and the lock thrown away. The electric selonoid works now and then. I am installing a cable release for mine.

I found that the reason my electric solenoid was only working sometimes like yours, is that it needs a larger wire going back to it. About a #10 wire. Mine works fine now.
