Unhappy Weber problems

Ok, I've just rebuilt my weber 40 IDFs on my 912 and what a difference. It idles and runs a lot better. However, I have a NEW dead spot at 4000-4500 rpm. It jerks severly and coughs until 4500 rpm and then it runs fine. My question, why is this and what should I do??? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the usual lean condition when you are going from the idle jets to the primary jets. Does it do it at 4500 no matter your throttle position or does it happen no matter how much gas you are giving the car? I had a similar bog in my 2.0 that was recified by bigger idle jets and an MSD ingition. Other than a bit lesser gas milage the thing runs as smooth as any out there. Did you alter the jet sizes when you rebuilt the carb?
