Well, I finally have some time to spend on the exterior of my car, so I was wondering if any of you had a good suggestion for a product that could make my oxidized paint look decent till I can afford that expensive paint job?
Now I am not looking for show car shiny, and I would prefer something that is easy to deal with and won't cost as much as a new paint job ![]() Thanks for the help, Tony 74 914 2.0L |

I have had awesome results with Mcguire's #7 polish. For oxidised California cars with that patina of slightly oily dirt I have been able to reveal a beautiful finish with this stuff.

Your not gonna have ANY luck with Meguires No. 7 on oxidized paint.
No. 7 is only for paint that is in very good condition. It is a very light glaze, designed to be put on right before a coat of wax. If you use it on oxidized paint, you will have a mess. You need some kind of cleaner that is MUCH stronger. If its heavily oxidized, you may need to start with something as heavy as a light rubbing compound, followed by a cleaner/polishing compound, then maybe No. 7, then Wax. Check out Meguire's web site, or their literature available in the stores. It will tell you exactly what products you need to use, depending on the condition of your paint. |
