brake line problem

So I'm replacing the brake line that snakes along the front firewall, from the driver's side, and ends up underneath the battery.

I have a replacement metal/steel (?) line to replace it, but after trying to get it in properly this weekend, it's too cumbersome to accomplish without tearing out a lot of things.

Instead I'm just going to cut the new metal line that I bought, so that I can fit in easier, and rejoin it with hosing.

But what kind of hose can I use? I figure the brake fluid will eat away typical rubber hosing.

Umm, that is really not the preferred way to do this job. The reason that there are special fittings on the ends of the brake lines is because there is a lot of pressure in them. It would be pretty challenging to come up with a fastening system that would work reliably with that kind of pressure...

If you're replacing the line, do the job right. Pull the stuff out of the way that needs to come out of the way; otherwise you'll be kicking yourself down the road.
