missing
76 2.0 engine misses about 2800 and again at 3200 after it is warmed up.This happens when accelerating but continues to rev well otherwise. also stumbles when accelerating from a constant low rpm 2200. I have replaced and adjusted the throttle switch. bad injection points? something else?

What does the tach do when it misses? If it jumps or bounces at that point specifically, then your problem is ignition-related.

Yes the tach does react when it happens.

Then the problem is almost certainly in the primary (the low-voltage "points" part) of the ignition system. Try unplugging the tach wire from the coil to see if the stutter goes away. If so, the tach needs rebuilding or replacement (or there is a problem with the wiring from the coil to the tach).
If not, then your points/condensor (or points-replacement gizmo) or the wiring to them is bad. Uh, or it could be a problem with the braided ground strap that is inside the distributor body. --DD |
Same thing happened to me once. my engine was missing. I looked everywhere for it. The wife said "it's probably in the last place you left it".
I got pissed. Oh wait, yer talking about something different. never mind ;) Nothing constructive to share so I thought I'd offer up a little humor. Very little. ;) |
