Thumbs up I swear this is true!!!!!!!!!!!

OK. After posting my last rant about how I had not been able to drive my car for a year, I took Mike Z's advice (no beer or tokes - just a diet coke and burrito supreme...) and dove back in. I replaced my year old master cylinder, bled the thing and headed out on a jaunt. Pedal was still soft, but pumped up with one stab. I thought I would get home and continue to bleed. About a block later I am getting the most horrible metal on metal sound from both ends of the passenger side. The front sounded like bearings, the rear was definitely rotational. I limp home put the damn thing on jack stands and pull it apart. Did you guys know that 914-6 rear rotors are larger in diameter than 914-4 rotors? As they heated up and expanded they actually were rubbing on my brand new rear calipers! The calipers had some casting flaws, so out came the dremel. I cleaned them both up and put the rear back together. I got ready to pull the front calipers (they are also new) to pull the rotor and fix what I thought was a bearing noise. I pulled the pads - whats this - no more noise? I noticed some irregular looking particles on the pads and thought they were defective (this would only happen to me by the way...). I out them in and got the grinding AGAIN! Wait, whats this? There are marks on the outer edge of the rotor. hmmmm...
The damn retaining clips are not factory and were scaping the outside of thr rotor! I had a set of factory clips, NO MORE NOISE. We bled the brakes for a long time. I am probably the only stooge who had to figure this out, but I found that if I did NOT pump up the system with the pedal prior to bleading, it blead very easy. By the third bleeder adjust I already had a pretty good pedal. Went aroung the car a few more times and (I swear this is true) I DROVE THE CAR!!! It had brakes and everything! I got up at 8 or so this morning, took off the top and put 200 miles on my car today (it usually only gets 1000 - 1500 or so per year). I went up in the foothills, ran some errands - it was great. I just finished washing, waxing, vaccuming and taking some pics for the insurance co (I'll post them when I get them back). What a great day!
Thanks all for your help! I owe you guys a beer or a toke (or a diet coke and a burrito!).

Glad to hear it worked out....I think I also recommended valium....8^)

Brakes ALWAYS piss me off. I don't work on them enough to be an expert, but I hate to pay the morons at the local shop to screw something up that I can eventually get right myself.
