After spending an obscene amount of money, countless days missed from work (lack of transportation, million and a half headaches from frustration and dillusion, my engine finally came to rest on the highway. Literally I mean!
As I was driving along tuning the radio, I heard a loud ugly menacing noise. I had to pull over to the side because. Not because it scared the hell out of me, but, because I literally couldn't drive any farther. My engine / transmission / muffler were all dragging along on the ground!!! People were actually clapping!! A good thing no TV crews were there or film @11. The towing company wouldn't tow it, all the shops are closed, I have no more money nor patience, can anybody relate to this or offer advise??? Liability?? My real inclination is to cut my losses and blow up this car and forget about it!!! I am probably going to die from bleeding ulcers, a heart attack or a stroke dealing with this sorry car!!!! Too bad I spent money on the body and paint!! It's kind of like my last girlfriend, Gorgeous on the outside and empty on the inside!! Thanks for listening!! Its now 12:58 AM and need to go shower and go to bed. No I can't do that I have to notify the Police Dept so that I don't get a parking ticket!!! OUCH! You can buy a truck bed racheting tie down at FLAPS or K-mart. Feed it under the tranny and up through both tranny mounts. Assuming the sheet metal part is still there and didn't come off the bottom of the trunk. If that happened I guess try to feed the tie-down through the holes made in the trunk floor. Worst case is you have to make holes in the trunk floor. After it is all fed though jack up the tranny and rachet the tie-down tight. It should allow a tow truck to tow the car.
My guess is that the special cupped washers and/or nyloc nuts were missing and the trans sliped off the mount. Hopefully the muffler took the worst of it, but check the front rubber motor mounts to see that they didn't shear, and look to see if the shift linkage got ground down. In either case not to hard or expensive to fix. good luck |
