exhaust

Part of my plan includes omitting the stock exhaust and going with something a little lighter and a bit more loud.

How *BAD/Inefficient* are the 75-76 914 stub pipes?

Louder? What did you say? Engines do need some backpressure through the exhaust to achieve the right breathing characteristics- exhaust pulses help evacuate the cylinder. I'm guessing that just stub pipes would not be an improvement, it would take a more complete design effort to get the right manifold/ cam/ stub lengths/ timing advance combo.

Horrible, I took mine off, world of difference. The pipes leave the head run forward and take a tight u-turn to the rear.
