My '73 2.0 is running rich and I think I've narrowed it down to a bad pressure sensor. What's involved with replacing one, and how do I go about adjusting the new one?

They are easy to replace, couple of vacuum lines and a few screws for the bracket. Do not try to adjust them you will be asking for trouble. New they are getting ridiculous in price. You may be able to find a good used one and get it rebuilt. I just purchased a new one for my 73 2.1 and paid over 500 for it(I'm afraid to sell my old one just in case I ever need it).

New sensors are extremely expensive. An alternative is to buy a rebuilt sensor. I recently bought a rebuilt sensor for my 2.0, it works fine and was considerably cheaper than a new sensor. However - some people have reported "problems" with rebuilt sensors. I haven't heard exactly what the problems were, it's possible the sensor wasn't to blame.
Make absolutely certain that you are getting the exact replacement sensor for your car. Check my web page to verify you are getting the correct part: http://members.rennlist.com/pbanders/DJetParts.htm Brad Anders |
