Torque on front sway bar?
 

Sooo. . . I've got the new front bar on, but I have no idea of how high to torque the nuts on the slider arm clamp. I know I have it too loose now (squeek/bang!), but I don't want to overtighten it and break it (I save those moments for exhaust studs). Any ideas?

Those are M8 grade 8.8 bolts that receive normaly 20 NM.

BUT the clamps will come loose as the squared shaft ends normay are scarfed.

There are several tricks the easyest is to use thin sheetmetall in the gap to clamp again.

Well best is to make the clamps like RS units.

To convert Newton-Meters (NM) to Foot-Pounds of torque multiply the NM by 0.738 = ftlbs. As for the clamp bolts, I tighten mine till there is no movement at all and haven't broken one yet. Good luck.

Thanks guys! My torque wrench is english/metric, so I don't have to bother with the conversion (sears). I'll start with 15NM and work my way up.

Now all I have to do is finish the motor/drivetrain!
