Red face broken throttle cable.....

Well, while I have my floorboards out, I thought I would pull the cables out and take a quick look at them. The throttle cable wouldn't come out all the way, so I tugged at it a little harder and the end broke off inside the tube(about halfway) and refuses to come out! Can steel brake tubing be used as a replacement tube? If so, I guess I will cut the old tube out and just replace it!
TIA for any replies!-- David
