Good luck I have A-C on two of my 914's. I would be wary of a A-C system that sells for under $1k. A new Sankyo compresser cost's about $600, But AA has a way of selling junk for more than top dollar just see their E-Bay auction stuff. Steve

Stay away from AA unless you have no other choice. It would be cheaper in the long run to buy a recent take-off from someone else.

Before you start on the project make sure you know the cost of freon! In California I priced a fill at over $180. In some states it would be over $300. Thats can make for expensive leaks.

I would purchase just the interior unit and the trunk unit and the pump from an aftermarket company that specializes in custom rods. Check out the american rod mags on the news stand. Many of these companies have the needed fittings and lines to convert to the newer coolant. Do not use the stock lines with the new coolant as the old lines are designed to be "lossy"

914kit,

You may want to locate a used AC setup. I have seen several of them over the last few months on Ebay. Two were working units pulled from cars that were being parted or rebuilt without AC.

I'm not sure how easily these will be to maintain. I'm still trying to locate a compressor w/clutch for my 2.0 without spending $600. Everythings there except that.

Good luck!

Gerard

Gerard, coincidentally, I have a Sanden conversion for a 914, that I was unable to use. In includes a brand new compressor (still has seal caps on it), mount bracket to replace the York units, and fittings...for $150. Send me e-mail (efeinsmith@aol.com) if interested.

Cool

I am about to yank and put up for sale the system that was my 71. It had no pressure in it, so I'll let it go cheap...

any offers.....
